DTV Alerts

1/9/12 -
At the end of 2011, Liberty Communications participated in a Nationwide Retransmission negotiation process with local broadcast stations. Our goals were to continue to provide access to a wide variety of quality local network stations and at the same time be mindful of the cost of the programming. We are faced with 200% increases in local programming rates from what we currently pay. We were able to successfully negotiate lower rates with some stations, but less successful with others.

Due to terms that were not acceptable to Liberty Communications the following changes are being made to the Liberty DTV lineup this week.

WHBF, Channel 4 and 404 (HD) will no longer be available on Liberty DTV service. This is a CBS affiliate and we currently intend to continue carrying KGAN which is the Cedar Rapids CBS affiliate.

WQAD, Channel 8 and 408 (HD) will continue to be made available to West Liberty customers, but not to West Branch customers. The reason for the split is that West Liberty is technically in the Quad Cities Direct Market Area (DMA) and West Branch is in the Cedar Rapids DMA. Historically we've been able to offer all channels to both towns, but during this round of negotiations we will no longer carry this station in West Branch. This is an ABC affiliate and we've reached an agreement to continue to carry KCRG in both West Liberty and West Branch.

We are still in negotiations with KLJB, Channel 18 and 418 (HD) and KGCW, Channel 26. This is a Fox affiliate and at this point in time it is possible that we'll no longer carry these channels. We should know the outcome of this negotiation within a few weeks.
We value your business and put a great deal of time, effort and thought into this process. Our goal was to continue to provide access to programming and at the same time contain costs. We understand that skyrocking content cost continue to drive TV retail rates up across this country.

11/4/10 - The purpose of this notification is to alert you about an upgrade for Minerva, the user interface for Liberty DTV service. Most things will remain the same, but there are some enhancements available with the upgrade.

Please click here for a pdf file containing important information about the upgrade.

The upgrade will be applied to your service next week. This work will be done from our office and no action will be required on your part.

- Helpful Hints for the Entone Set Top Box (stb)

Power On/Off:
The new Entone boxes and remotes have an enhanced feature that the old boxes didn’t have. In the past you had to press TV and then PWR followed by the Myrio button and PWR to turn the TV and the stb on or off. With the new remotes and boxes you simply need to point the Entone remote at both the television and the stb at the same time and just push the PWR button. This will turn both the television and the stb on or off. It’s best if you use this method and avoid pressing the TV button or the STB button.

It’s difficult to change habits and some customers have continued to press the TV button or the STB button followed by the PWR button which can cause things to get out of sync.  Here are some hints if you get things out of sync.

Your television screen is black but the TV is on.
This means that your stb is off but the TV is on. You will likely see “Push (Myrio button) and PWR” on your TV screen. To fix this situation, do the following:
1.    Press the STB button, then the PWR button
2.    Press the TV button, then the PWR button
3.    Press the STB button again

When you are finished watching TV, remember to point the remote at both the television and the stb at the same time and just push the PWR button. This will turn both devices off at the same time.

Your STB is on but the TV is off.
It is sometimes difficult to tell if your stb is on when the TV is off. With Myrio the STBY light stays green. We’re converting to Minerva in the future, and on Minerva the STBY light will turn amber when the box is off.

1.    Press the TV button, then the PWR button
2.    Press the STB button

Again, when you are finished watching TV, remember to point the remote at both the television and the stb at the same time and just push the PWR button. This will turn both devices off at the same time.

For customers using a DVR box, it is important to know that if you have scheduled recordings and the stb is turned off, it will not record. Here is an alternative method that will keep the stb on to ensure recording functions properly.

To turn TV off:
1. Press TV and PWR.

To turn TV on:
1. Press TV and PWR.
2. Press STB button (do not press PWR). Pressing just the STB button ensures that the remote is sending requests to the STB and not the TV.
